The Australian Kip Foster dreams in secret to succeed Lee Mitchener, the winner in 2010. Jorge Busato from Hong Kong, the dreaded Italian Tino Donadei, flirting with the podium for a few years and the Argentinean Miguel Perez are the outsiders choice. As James Russell Jr, second in 2011, he is left with only a small step to take.

Laurent Merchandise, who has just taken the French KZ125 Championship, will have the status of favourite. He will nevertheless need to watch out for Stephen Nuvolini, formidable in the French Cup at Valencia, Thierry Delré and Nicky Morris, used to European tracks. The German Mike Halder, the Ukrainian Bogdan Petrenko and especially the South African Sebastian Lanzetti will also have their say. Finally, the only female, Cyndie Monk, could spring a surprise.
